The History of the Hong Kong 4 Trails starts in 2012 when Andre Blumberg ran Hong Kong's four long distance trails in four consecutive days. It was a statement against those that said, "it's impossible, it just can't be done" after being inspired by all the overseas multi stage races that take place across deserts or through the mountains.
The following year he ran and invited others to join him to run all four trails in three days with the Hong Kong and Lantau trail being undertaken on the same day. After successfully completing this challenge the current format was created.
For the past four years the Hong Kong 4 Trails has been a consecutive effort of all four trails, in a reverse direction and with the goal to finish it under-60 hours. As of 2016 no runner has yet to "Break 60".
